Room Conditions

- Please note that all room allocation is based on Run of the House (ROH).

- The resort’s normal Check-in Time is at 14:00hrs and Check-out Time is at 11:00hrs.

- Any early check-in or late check-out will be subjected to room availability.

 

Important Note:-

- All travellers MUST BE fully vaccinated, check in date must be 14 days after receiving the second dose.

- Change of travel date is subjected to The Management approval and charges if tested positive before check-in date.

- The Management reserves the right to alter, amend, delete or add to these conditions or withdraw the package at any time without prior notice.

- Guests will bear the cost of quarantine, transportation and etc. if symptomatic during the stay and tested positive.

 

NOTICE: SOP - THE REEF DIVE RESORT (MATAKING ISLAND)

* ALL travellers include SABAHAN & INTER-STATE travellers (for West Malaysia, Sarawak, and Labuan entry to Sabah) are advised to undergo Covid-19 RTK-Antigen negative test results (self test - nasopharyngeal or saliva) before and after the trip to Mataking Reef Resort.

* MySejahtera APP status for each individual must be in 'Low Risk No Symptom' & 'Fully vaccinated'.

 

The above rates EXCLUDE compulsory charges as follow:

(i) Jetty fee of RM 2 per person per entrance for Malaysian Identification Card holder

(ii) Jetty fee of RM 10 per person per entrance for International passport holder

(iii) 3% Peak Season Surcharge on the month of December 2023: 24th – 26th December 2023

(v) Malaysia Tourism Tax (MyTTx) applies to Non Malaysian (with Foreign Passports)

- Flat rate of RM 10.00 per room per night will be collected directly from all foreign guests by cash at the resort

 

PACKAGE INCLUSIVE

i. Return trip of Land & Boat Transfers on the Actual Check-in Date & Actual Check-out Date (Tawau Airport - Semporna Jetty – Mataking Island – Semporna Jetty – Tawau Airport).

ii. Double/Twin/Triple/Quadruple sharing of accommodation with air-conditioning, fresh water hot shower, and attached bathroom.

iii. Full board meals (3 main meals) at buffet style. Free flow of coffee/tea and light snacks.

iv. For Non-Diver Package – Inclusive of unlimited snorkeling activity at Mataking Island beaches only.

Equipment rental is NOT included. It is a free and easy activity around Mataking Island.

v. For Diver Package (Licensed Diver) - Inclusive of 3 daily boat dives with weights, weight belt, tanks, and our professional Dive Master/Dive Instructor at different dive sites such as Mataking Island, Timba-Timba Island, Pandanan Island, and other nearby island (except on the arrival and departure day) and unlimited shore buddy dives (house reef) without guide. Equipment rental is NOT included.

 

Dive sites are within travelling by speed boat (15 to 30 minutes) AWAY FROM Mataking Island.

The sites shall include these islands below:

(1) Pandanan Island

(2) Timba-timba Island

(3) Bohayan Island - dive site with soft and hard corals

(4) Kelapuan Island - dive site to spot Mandarin fishes (as known as Mandarin valley)

(5) Pom Pom Island

(6) Mataking Island

GROUP Booking Offer

(i) ONE (1) person gets FREE stay package for every 10 paying adults (with the same arrival and departure time per booking). This offer applies to Malaysian & Expatriate guests.

(Reference: 10A + FOC 1A; FOC for the 11th person)

For example,

- If the group consists of both Non Divers and Divers, then one Non Diver will be selected to qualify for free package. In another case, if the group consist of Non Divers and Divers and booked for different room types, then the first selection that is entitled for FOC will be the Non Diver package followed by the second selection from the lowest room type.

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

i. Above rates apply for a minimum 2 persons and thereafter based on twin/triple/quadruple sharing basis.

ONE (1) room must occupy a minimum TWO (2) paying adults, all children are required to share and occupy the same room with parents/adults.

ii. If a room consists of only ONE (1A) Adult and TWO (2C) Children, the room charges shall be quoted according to TWO (2A) Adults’ and ONE (1C) Child prices.

iii. NO combination of packages is allowed under the same person (e.g. 2 nights of diver package plus 1 night of non-diver package or etc.).

iv. Applicable to all room types, both adults and children.

v. Non-Diver Package CANNOT be converted to Diver Package (or either way) on check-in day or once a guest has arrived at the island.

vi. Guests (non-diver stay package) with a certified dive license who wish to go for any diving activities will be charged at RM 100.00 per certified diver per dive regardless of check dive, boat dives, shore dives or Sipadan dives – NOT including dive equipment rental. Upon arrival, the guest will be charged RM 100.00 per pax for the first orientation/check dive. Every divers will need to carry out a check dive with our resident divemaster at first before proceeding to the regular dives.

vii. Diver packages are subjected to our diving schedules and regulations as set by the dive center.

viii. Any child who is a certified diver shall have to pay full diver rates regardless of their age and parents are to be held responsible for their child at all times.

ix. Single Traveler: Additional 50% surcharge on top of the above package rates for single occupancy applies in a twin sharing room. In any event if there are no other guests to meet the minimum requirement for the land and boat transfers, there will be an additional of RM 250.00 nett per coach way (land transfer) and RM 614.80 nett per boat way (boat transfer).

x. 10% Deposit / Reservation Fee (non-refundable) has to be paid once an official booking has been confirmed within 7 days.

xi. The balance or full payment must be settled at least 30 days prior to the check-in date. Otherwise, the reservation is subjected to automatic cancellation.

xii. Equipment rental is NOT included in any of the Diver / Non Diver packages. Rental of a full set of dive equipment is at RM 85.00 per certified diver per day and a full set of snorkeling equipment is at RM 30.00 per person per day. Single dive gear is available to be rented. Limited sets and subject to availability.

xiii. Upon arrival, guests are required to sign an affirmation and liability release form for the benefits of all parties.

xiv. All types of activities being offered by the company on the island, especially dive activities / Sipadan trip, are subjected to weather conditions / poor visibility and also the diver's own physical status (e.g.: injuries, intoxication, hangovers, etc). Therefore, we reserve the final decision and rights to either proceed or abort any activities / dives for any safety reason.

SIPADAN DAY TRIP (SNORKELING / DIVING TRIP)

(i) For guests with minimum stay of 3d/2n (Sipadan permit is subject to availability)

(ii) The boat fee can be shared with other guests (if any, maximum 6 guests)

(iii) Minimum diving certification: Advanced Open Water or equivalent

(iv) One-day permit is valid for 2 dives

Note:

(1) Due to the recent ruling management of Sabah Park which has a restricted daily quota, all guests must apply permit in ADVANCE (preferably 1 MONTH before arrival) on a First Come First Serve basis to secure the limited permit being shared by all the resort operators at the same region.

(2) Please be informed that the current permit fees is NON REFUNDABLE (subject to Sabah Park changes).

(3) All types of activities being offered by the company on the island especially dive activities / Sipadan trip is subjected to bad sea, weather conditions / poor visibility and also diver's own physical abilities (e.g.: injuries, intoxication, hangovers and etc). Therefore, we reserve the final decision and rights to either proceed or abort any activities / dives for any safety reasons.

(4) It takes 80 minutes of speed boat ride to get to Sipadan Island from Mataking Island.

(5) The Sipadan Agreement Form will be given out to ALL confirmed Sipadan participants upon arrival at reception hall during registration, the purpose of the agreement form is to verify Sipadan charges (as in permit fee and boat fee).

 

Cancellation for Sipadan Day Trip/Excursion

In the event of cancellation, the following cancellation shall applies:

(i) Before guests' arrival/check-in date: Free of charge

(ii) Upon arrival: Permit fee shall be charged

(iii) Upon signing of the Sipadan Agreement Form: Boat fee + permit fee shall be charged (Boat fee will be charged according to the number of persons on that specific date)

** All expenses purchase at the Resort will be subjected to 6% Sales and Services Tax (SST).

 

Notes for Divers’ Safety Measures:-

Certified divers need to assess their condition objectively. It is not worth compromising their safety — which could ruin more than the whole trip — because he/she is in a hurry to make the first dive.

 

How long does a Diver have to wait before flying after diving?

- Staying at ground level before going to altitude is like doing a decompression stop. Deeper and longer dives will leave with more residual nitrogen, thus requiring a longer pre-flight surface interval. The time the diver should wait relates directly to the pattern of diving completed.

- We recommend a general practice of allowing a surface interval of 24 hours or more before flying after diving. This should bring reasonable peace of mind and help to provide a buffer for unexpected problems, like a loss of cabin pressurization during flight. Ultimately, it is better safe than sorry and almost every location has enough to entertain for the final day.

- Flying After Diving (last day at resort) – We, at The Reef believe that this differs from different individuals, agencies and even dive computers / dive tables. If divers choose to dive less than 24 hours (recommended hours) before they fly, they will be required to sign a separate Liability/Release Form for this matter. However, this is still subject to the approval of the Dive Centre management.

 

BOOKING CANCELLATION

In the event of cancellation, the following cancellation shall applies:

#Confirmation date to 8 days before actual check-in date - 10% deposit of the trip's full price forfeited.

#7 days to 01 day before actual check-in date – 50% of the trip’s full price forfeited

#NO SHOW on check-in day of customer - 100% of the trip's full price forfeited.

 

RESERVATION AND CONFIRMATION

*The company shall not be held responsible and reserve the rights to charge the customer for additional costs rendered by any last minute cancellation, delay and charges of arrangement made by customer (less than 48 hours before the arrival as per schedule).
